Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has won the South Asian Business Excellence Award 2017.
The apex trade association representing the Bangladesh’s knitwear sector was honoured for ensuring workplace safety and health awareness in the industry.
The World Human Resource Development Congress (WHRDC) and Asian Confederation of Business (ACB) jointly gave the award to the BKMEA on October 29 in Dhaka.
Monsur Ahmed, the first Vice President of BKMEA, received the award from Bangladesh ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak (MP).
South Asian Business Excellence Awards are given to the leaders who play an important role in stronger regional activities and increasing economic opportunities.
The main objective of this award is to honour the responsible person and the organisation for the improvement of the quality of work through establishing a forum.
A number of organisations from South Asian countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives were nominated for this prestigious award.
The winner was decided by a jury comprising business leaders, researchers and academics, from all over the South Asia.
