The Chittagong-based Denim Expert, along with Green Delta Insurance, was on Monday recognised for their sustainable business practices by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in its New Champion Awards.
The two entities received Honourable Mention in the ‘Excellence in Sustainability’ category in the New Champion Awards, which honours entities exploring sustainable growth strategies, business models and technologies that would be needed in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The World Economic Forum underlined that Denim Expert (established in 2009) is actively working to promote sustainability and inclusivity in the Bangladesh RMG sector.
In 2019, Denim Expert has not only set sustainable goals and targets across several areas including reducing consumption of water and energy, carbon dioxide emissions and waste generation but in association with the USAID, it is also working towards providing employment opportunities to human trafficking survivors and transgenders.
Speaking to the media, the Managing Director of Denim Expert, Mostafiz Uddin reportedly maintained that there is no alternative to innovation and sustainability for surviving in the global market.
