
The governing board of the central fund for Bangladesh’s export-oriented readymade garment (RMG) industry, comprising representatives from the factory owners, workers and the Government, has been reconstituted by the Government of Bangladesh recently.
This is as per reports, which added a gazette notification in this regard has been issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) even as the 16-member board would be led by the State Minister for Labour and Employment as the Chairperson, while the Labour Secretary, Presidents of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and apart from President of Jatiya Sramik League Nur Kutub Alam Mannan would be its four Vice Chairmen.
Reports further added the remaining 11 members would be the Inspector General of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE), two BGMEA Vice-Presidents (SM Mannan Kochi and Khandaker Rafiqul Islam), BKMEA Executive President of Mohammad Hatem, Director Generals of Department of Labour and Central Fund, and secretary general and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Employers Federation, Farooq Ahmed.
