Out of 350 garment manufacturers in Chattogram, 220 have resumed production with special permission from the local Government as of Tuesday. Due to student protestors in the streets, manufacturing has been halted in industries around the nation since last week. As a result, internet services were also discontinued.
According to Nazrul Islam, the first vice-president of the BGMEA, orders at certain garment manufacturers are about to stop, and the relevant authorities have decided to restart operations in order to keep the companies producing.
Under police protection, the employees of approximately 220 factories were transported to their esteemed factories. Authorities at Chattogram Port have been operating partially since Tuesday thanks to internet connectivity. Manufacturers and exporters had been anticipating the opportunity to reopen and resume production.
