The allocation of people who have abandoned their land within the nation’s economic zones or who have turned to the fraudulent use of certificates will be revoked, according to the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).
BEZA states that private groups that have not worked in the economic zone after obtaining either the initial or final certificate will have their allocation cancelled.
Several groups, including the S Alam Group, are reportedly having their land leases and EZ licenses evaluated, according to BEZA sources. BEZA will promptly act upon obtaining instructions from the Chief Adviser’s office about S Alam and other groups.
In this regard, BEZA’s new Executive Chairman Dr. Md. Sarwar Bari told the media that working together with 100 economic zones of the country cannot be successful. He will work on these EZs on a priority basis, which are ahead of the development process and allotted for setting up industries.
The Chief Adviser will be consulted in this situation on the cancellation of the license and contract for those who have rented land and departed with an EZ license. During the meeting, decisions on these matters will be discussed. We’ll explore the procedure used to leave land under lease.
A list of businesses that have been given permission to invest in EZ but have chosen not to do so is currently being compiled. The specifics of these institutions will be discussed at that meeting with the Chief Adviser so that BEZA can move quickly in this direction. In this situation, certain organisations’ contracts and certificates that have no potential for investment may be canceled.
However, some institutions may be warned and allowed to come in for investment.
