In a show of solidarity, leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) emphasized the importance of unity among buying house members during the annual Iftar event held in 2025. BGBA President Mofazzal Hossain Pavel urged attendees to stand together in the face of industry challenges, stating, “Buying house and readymade garment (RMG) entrepreneurs need to go through this challenging time together, and then we will be able to face any challenge in the coming days.”
Addressing a large gathering, Mofazzal Hossain, Managing Director of Dongyi Sourcing Ltd., highlighted the strong turnout as a sign of unity, which he believes will empower the sector to tackle future obstacles. He mentioned ongoing collaboration with the Government on policy reforms and expressed gratitude for the support received from BGBA members, urging them to continue backing the board’s initiatives over the next ten months.
Md. Abul Kalam, Panel Leader of the Sammilita Parishad and Managing Director & CEO, underscored the crucial role that garment buying houses play in ensuring the stability of both the sector and the country. He remarked, “We go hand-in-hand to ensure the sector’s stability.”
Vice President AKM Saifur Rahman Farhad raised concerns about pressing issues facing the industry, particularly regarding the timely shipment of goods as Eid ul-Fitr approaches. Farhad, who is also the Managing Partner of Wikitex-BD and CEO of Interlink Dresses Ltd., noted that delays in shipments from RMG factories pose significant challenges for buying houses. He warned that failure to meet the last shipment dates of March 25 and 26 could tarnish the sector’s reputation. He called on the government to take immediate measures to facilitate on-time deliveries, which are crucial for maintaining overall export performance.
