The President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan has recently affirmed that the readymade garment industry of Bangladesh remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold its achievements in workplace safety while also maintaining its status as a preferred global hub for apparel sourcing.
This is as per reports, which added the BGMEA president highlighted the substantial progress made over the past decade, fostering a safety-oriented culture within the RMG sector even as he emphasised that entrepreneurs and workers were now more cognisant of workplace safety than ever before while safety measures have become an intrinsic aspect of the industry’s operations, firmly integrated into its business practices.
His comments were delivered during an event organised by the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC) to extend a warm welcome to 19 independent factories that have recently become part of the RSC.
Miran Ali, Vice President of BGMEA; Mohammad Hatem, Executive President of BKMEA; Nafis-Ud-Doula, Director of RSC; Abdul Haque, Managing Director of RSC; George B Faller, Chief Safety Officer of RSC; Amirul Haque Amin, President of IBC; Z.M. Kamrul Anam, President of Bangladesh Textile and Garments Workers League; China Rahman, Secretary General of the Federation of Garments Workers; and Babul Akhter, Secretary General of Bangladesh Garments Industrial Workers Federation, were all present at the event held in Dhaka recently.
