Even as new cases of coronavirus continue to be reported from various parts of Bangladesh, business leaders and economists have expressed apprehensions that if Bangladesh’s vaccination programme fails to catch up with that in the developed nations, the country runs the risk of losing its export markets.
Reports maintained this while adding that addressing a post-budget webinar on 13 June (Sunday), Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md. Jashim Uddin, reportedly, underlined that air travels between Bangladesh and other countries will not become normal if people are not immunised and in such a case buyers will not come here.

Jashim Uddin while Faruque Hassan, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President, on his part maintained that Bangladesh lagged behind others in terms of vaccination, which will cause the country to fall behind in exports as well even as he emphasised on finishing the immunisation programme.
Economists and experts further added that the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 comes at a time when Bangladesh is facing the challenge to overcome COVID-19 crisis while underlining that vaccination should be given utmost importance to address this challenge in addition to making available stimulus even as they demand more allocation for the health sector in the proposed budget.
