Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has expressed hopes Spain would continue to extend Bangladesh the GSP facilities, which it currently enjoys, even as Bangladesh is on its way to join the big league of developing nations as it is on its way to graduate from the LDC status by 2024.
Tipu Munshi reportedly expressed hopes in this regard following his meeting with the Spanish Ambassador to Dhaka, Francisco de Assis Benitez Salas, on 13 December (Sunday).
During the meeting, the Spanish envoy on his part reportedly stated in Spain there is a good demand for Bangladeshi RMG products and it would import more apparel items from Bangladesh in the days to come while expressing high hopes Spain would continue to support Bangladesh even after the LDC graduation.
Underlining that Spain is the fourth largest export market of Bangladesh and that there’s plenty of opportunities to increase trade with Spain, Tipu Munshi said Bangladesh expects continuance of the ongoing GSP facility from Spain and went on to add that Bangladesh was now an ideal place for investment and has sufficient number of skilled manpower while highlighting that this region including China and India is a big market.
