Shahi Exports, India’s leading apparel exporter, has announced an investment plan of more than Rs. 700 crores to establish a garment manufacturing unit in Bellandur near Bengaluru (Karnataka).
The proposed unit will cover weaving, processing and printing operations. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate more than 2,400 jobs in the region.
The garment facility will be spread over 33.17 acres of land in Nidige KIADB Industrial area, Shivamogga. It has already received clearance from the State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) of Karnataka.
Apparel Resources approached the company to fetch more details on the project but the top management was unavailable for comments.
The apparel exporter has been in business for 43 years now. It works for well-known brands and retailers of the world like H&M, GAP, Target, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.
Currently, the company operates 52 factories across seven states of India, employing more than 1,00,000 people. It produces womenswear, menswear, kidswear, and is into knits & woven garments as well besides backward integration in the fabric.
Shahi Exports’ annual apparel exports turnover stands at US $ 910 million.
The company has recently opened a new garment factory in Odisha as well. It has further announced to invest in Jharkhand too in the near future.
