As common as it is to take cruise shows to covetable locations, Gucci is heading to Florence for their Resort 2018 Show for the first time ever. The procession comes as no surprise because Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci is known to constantly draw his inspirations from the historic capital of culture, which is also home to the renaissance movement, another big stimuli for his work.

The selection of the notable venue is a slice of Gucci’s multi-faceted cultural project with the Uffizi Gallery and the city of Florence to restore the heritage site back its original grandeur. Eike Schmidt, Director of Uffizi Gallery expressed her gratitude in an official statement saying, “We are truly grateful to Gucci for having chosen the Palatina Gallery at the Pitti Palace with its very rare treasures of European painting as a backdrop for its exceptional creativity. We are equally grateful for the commitment to Florence that Gucci has shown with its participation in the Primavera di Boboli project, which literally will give new life to the gardens and make them once again Italy’s answer to Versailles.”
The company is also donating a whopping amount of Euros 2 million to support the restoration of the iconic Boboli Gardens that overlook at the Palatina Gallery. Gucci’s decision of returning to its roots for its coming show is an effort to broadcast their rich heritage and the big familial strength associated to the city where Guccio Gucci founded the brand in 1921. The show is set to be held on May 29 and promises to offer a “truly sensory experience that goes beyond the visual and a unique journey through the marvels of Renaissance Florence”.
