
In order to encourage the fast-growing electronic segment of the textile industry, American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) will be sponsoring and participating in upcoming workshops and partnering with the WEAR Conference. The conference series will feature four workshops across a period of four months from March to June. The first workshop from March 8-9 will be based on Standards for Wearable Technology and Electronic Textiles Workshop. It will include talks and panel sessions involving representatives from standards organizations (including AATCC), Government, and industry that will help identify challenges related to standards for wearable devices. The conference will broaden the horizons of industry professionals and academics about the standards communities and what resources are available to assist in product development and evaluation.

The second workshop in the series, scheduled to be held from May 10 to May 12, will feature the AATCC Committee Meetings finalizing on the scope and priority action items for testing electronically integrated textiles of tech-wearables. Priority projects include exploration of laundering for electronically-integrated textiles. Other related committees will also meet this week, including those focused on printing, static, laundering, and water resistance.
The third conference will be the WEAR Conference 2016 itself from May 24 to May 26. The final workshop in the series will focus on Smart Textiles will be a one-day affair (June 26). The objective of this workshop is to educate those in the area of smart textiles by providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and to identify new opportunities for standards in this emerging industry segment.
