The Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET) convened an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 7th December, during which an interim 13-member committee was approved. The meeting, chaired by Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, Convener, and facilitated by Enayet Hossain, Member Secretary of the interim convening committee, marked a pivotal step towards organizing future elections.
The EGM, attended by members from across the organisation, voted in favour of the interim committee and established seven standing committees, granting them authority to operate until 31st December 2025. The primary goal of the interim committee, formed on 13th November following the resignation of the previous committee, is to facilitate elections, enhance member outreach, and finalize payments for a 10 katha plot of land received from RAJUK during the 14th Council’s tenure.
Joint Convener Shams Uz Zaman addressed attendees, announcing plans to cover the final installment and registration costs for the aforementioned land. Members expressed their satisfaction with the interim committee’s swift organization of the EGM within just two months of assuming their roles, reflecting a commitment to revitalizing the organization.
The ITET election is set to take place by 31st December 2025, marking an important milestone for the institution as it moves forward under new leadership.
