The Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) organised a seminar focused on Renewable Energy, Decarbonization, and Energy Transition, underscoring the significant role these themes play in the country’s energy landscape and, particularly, in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector.
The seminar featured key insights from Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministries of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources, who emphasised the need to adopt sustainable energy practices in order to enhance competitiveness in the global market.
Additionally, the event highlighted the critical importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources as Bangladesh aims to meet its climate goals and reduce carbon emissions. Industry experts discussed the necessity for supportive policies and regulations to facilitate this transition.
Participants noted that integrating renewable energy solutions could significantly lower operational costs and improve environmental standards within the RMG sector, thus ensuring its sustainability and resilience.
BGCCI President Maksud articulated the seminar’s primary objective: to raise awareness and foster collaboration among stakeholders, aimed at addressing the pressing challenges and opportunities surrounding renewable energy and decarbonisation in Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
The panel discussions, moderated by Dr. Ijaz Hossain, Energy and Environment Specialist at BUET, stressed the urgency for innovation and investment in clean energy technologies towards a low-carbon future.
