
The Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) recently hosted a key committee meeting under the leadership of Md. Morshed Alam, Vice President of BGBA. The gathering brought together top officials, including the Chairman, Co-chairman, and members of various strategic committees, to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening the industry’s integrity and global competitiveness.
Morshed Alam, serving as the Standing Committee Director In-Charge for sectors such as Arbitration, Woven, CIP, Market Research & Development for the USA and Canada, and New Member Coordination, led comprehensive discussions focused on elevating the buying house community’s efficiency and transparency.
Highlights of the meeting included the proposal to establish a joint arbitration mechanism involving BGMEA, BKMEA, and BGBA to streamline dispute resolution processes within the RMG sector. Participants also deliberated on implementing a factory and buying house ranking system based on performance and compliance, promoting accountability and best industry practices.
Further discussions emphasized bolstering BGBA’s internal governance through improved monitoring and support for member activities, ensuring the association’s integrity and effectiveness.
