The Bangladesh Product Exhibition 2023 kick-started in Riyadh on 22 February with exporters from Bangladesh eyeing a bigger chunk of the flourishing US $ 35 billion Saudi market.
Participated by a total of 30 companies predominantly from the apparel, leather and pharmaceuticals sectors, the three-day expo, organised by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), was inaugurated by Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, who throwing open the event reportedly said even though Saudi Arabia has over 3 crore people, their purchasing power is very high.
“Which is why we believe our export to Saudi Arabia can be equivalent to that of countries having 10 crore consumers,” reportedly maintained the Commerce Minister while maintaining Bangladesh’s exports to Saudi Arabia were not that significant.
“But we are hopeful we will be able to have a bigger slice here,” reportedly said Tipu while highlighting Bangladesh was capable of producing quality products at competitive prices, which gives it that extra edge while underlining the expo will play a key role towards boosting Bangladesh’s exports to Saudi Arabia.
