Export and import operations at Hili and Sonamasjid land ports resumed on Monday, 30th June, after customs officials suspended their strike.
Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi, President of the Hili Land Port Import-Export Workers Group, confirmed that all port activities, including the transportation of goods, restarted at noon following the withdrawal of the shutdown programme by the NBR Sanskar Oikya Parishad.
Md. Nazim Uddin, Revenue Officer at Hili Land Port, echoed the confirmation, stating that trade operations have fully resumed.
Operations at Sonamasjid land port also returned to normal earlier in the day, with officials and employees resuming their duties. Mainul Islam, Manager of Panama Port Link Ltd.—the operator of Sonamasjid Land Port—confirmed the restoration of full-scale trading activities between Bangladesh and India.
Both ports had remained closed on Saturday and Sunday due to a nationwide strike enforced by the NBR Sanskar Oikya Parishad, which was pressing for reforms. During the shutdown, no trucks crossed the border and no trade was conducted.
