Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan has stated that the National Board of Revenue (NBR) is prioritising the recovery of lost or forfeited money. At a news conference in the NBR conference room, Khan stressed that the agency’s primary goal is to return this revenue to the national exchequer.
According to Khan, foregone revenue is money that could have been made but was lost because of outside factors. The NBR’s dedication to addressing this pressing issue was highlighted when he said, “It is actually our main job, and we are actively working in that direction.”
Khan emphasised the agency’s coordinated efforts in cooperation with other government agencies, even though the discussion about revenue loss takes place behind the scenes. In order to expedite the recovery process, he mentioned collaborations with organisations such as the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and several law enforcement organisations.
“We are working in an integrated and coordinated manner,” Khan said, promising that although the results of the efforts might not be immediately obvious, they will soon be. “You will be able to realise the impact when the recovery process reaches a certain stage,” he continued, guaranteeing that the NBR’s efforts will eventually produce noticeable outcomes.
