
The Government of Bangladesh has provided BDT 100 crore to the Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) for obtaining raw jute from cultivators across the country.
Humayun Khaled, Chairman of BJMC has informed that the state-owned jute mills are running at half of their 700 tonnes-a-day capacity for the demand of raw jute. He further added that the mills would not be able to purchase any of raw jute from the market due to shortage of funds whereas the private mills were piling it on.
