
Bangladesh’s central bank, Bangladesh Bank (BB), has been asked to provide information of at least nine e-commerce entities operating in Bangladesh.
Media reports maintained this adding the Commerce Ministry has recently sent a letter to the central bank, asking it to make available information on the latest financial situation of nine e-commerce companies, namely Alesha Mart, E-orange, Dhamaka, Aladiner Prodip, Sirajganj Shop, Adyan Mart, Qcoom, BoomBoom and Need.com.bd.
The central bank has been asked to provide information on the total liabilities of these entities to the buyers and merchants and the amount of their current and fixed capital even as information on whether these entities had transferred money elsewhere has also been sought, as per the head of the Central Digital Commerce Cell of the Commerce Ministry, Hafizur Rahman.
Hafizur, meanwhile speaking to the media, reportedly, further added that there are allegations against these companies of not delivering goods after taking advance payment from buyers while also of not paying the arrears even after purchasing goods from the merchants and, under the given situation, the latest financial information of these companies has been sought from the central bank to determine the next course of action.
