Hours after terminating Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem’s contractual appointment, the interim government has named Md Abdur Rahman Khan, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division (FID), as the new head of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Following the Awami League Government’s overthrow on 5th August, a number of businesspeople accused Muneem of corruption, and some tax officials joined the demonstration calling for his resignation.
In January, Muneem’s term was contractually extended by the Awami League administration for an additional two years.

According to a notification released by the Public Administration Ministry, the new NBR chief is the secretary of the finance ministry’s Internal Resources Division (IRD) and the secretary of the FID branch.
Meanwhile, Shomi Kaiser, the president of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, has announced her resignation. She turned in her letter of resignation to the executive council of E-CAB.
She resigned, claiming personal reasons, according to E-CAB administrator Mahmudul Amin, who confirmed the information. In the organisation’s first election in 2022, she was reelected for the 2022–2024 term after taking on the presidency of E-CAB for the first time in 2018.
