
Close on heels of Bangladesh garment manufacturers underlining that price of yarn has increased in local markets even as the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) called upon the Government to ease conditions for importing raw materials including fabrics and yarn, the Terry towel manufacturers and exporters have now demanded easing of rules for importing yarn through land ports.
Media reports maintained this while adding the Bangladesh Terry Towel & Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTTLMEA) has written letters to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Commerce and Finance Ministers in this regard, focusing on imports from India.
Speaking to the media, Chairman of the BTTLMEA M Shahadat Hossain Sohel, reportedly, maintained that currently there was lot of work orders from global buyers for which they need a lot of yarn at competitive prices while adding the local spinners were facing difficulties in supplying yarn at competitive prices.
It may be mentioned here earlier BGMEA President Faruque Hassan wrote to Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi Hassan calling for easing of rules, including removal of different non-tariff barriers and improving infrastructures at the land ports, for importing yarn from India.
