
Another e-commerce platform of Bangladesh, Eorange, has hit the headlines, after a court in Dhaka has sent the owner of the e-commerce platform and her husband to jail following a case filed by the customers pertaining to alleged embezzlement of Taka 1,100 crore.
Media reports maintained this while adding the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique, reportedly, passed the order recently in this regard after rejecting the bail plea of the couple, Eorange’s owner Sonia Mehjabin and her husband Masukur Rahman, who had surrendered to the court.
It may be mentioned here that Md. Taherul Islam, on behalf of the aggrieved customers, filed the case against five people, including the owners of Eorange, with Gulshan Police Station accusing them of embezzling around Taka 1,100 crore even as, of late, there have been reports that Eorange had failed to deliver products on time even after receiving payment from its customers, which is, reportedly, a violation of Customer Rights Protection Act 2009 and Penal Code 1860.
Eorange is, reportedly, an online marketplace which sells a host of products including that of daily use, fashion items such as apparels, cosmetics, shoes, etc., alongside electronics, home appliances, groceries and many more.
