In a significant meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral relations, Marcelo Carlos Sesa, the Argentine Ambassador to Bangladesh, met with Anwar Hossain, the Administrator of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Vice-Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), at the EPB office in Dhaka.
The discussions centered on identifying potential areas for trade and investment, with both sides expressing optimism about the vast opportunities available for collaboration. They emphasised the importance of fostering stronger ties between the business communities of both nations to fully leverage these trade prospects.
Ambassador Sesa and Administrator Hossain highlighted the need for initiatives such as road shows and single-country fairs, which would promote direct communication between entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and Argentina. These platforms would serve to showcase the strengths and capabilities of both countries, allowing businesses to explore new avenues for trade and investment.
During the meeting, Anwar Hossain outlined Bangladesh’s commitment to product diversification in the ready-made garment sector, particularly its efforts to expand into high-value apparel utilising man-made fibers. He requested the Ambassador’s support in increasing garment exports to Argentina.
In a reciprocal move, Hossain expressed Bangladesh’s interest in importing cotton from Argentina, suggesting that such a partnership could yield mutual benefits and contribute to the economic growth of both countries.
Furthermore, the BGMEA Administrator sought the Ambassador’s assistance in streamlining the visa process for Bangladeshi businesspeople wishing to visit Argentina, aiming to enhance business exchanges between the two nations.
The meeting marked a pivotal step in strengthening the economic ties between Argentina and Bangladesh, paving the way for future collaborations and trade opportunities.
