
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Economic Relations Division (ERD) inked a US $ 24.70 million grant agreement that will help carry out the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s three-year project. The project’s resource partners include the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
The Economic Relations Division (ERD) signed the agreement with the International Labour Organization (ILO) on 12th March.
“Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh” is the name of the agreement. The project’s goal is to guarantee that more men and women in Bangladesh have access to decent work through better laws and policies, transparent, inclusive, and gender-responsive labour market institutions, and sustainable business practices that boost industry competitiveness.
The project interventions will help to fulfill the goals and targets of the country’s five-year plan and the SDGs in those labour issues.
ILO has been providing all kinds of assistance, including monetary and technical assistance, to carry out different development plans that include establishing a working environment predicated on the agreement of all parties and uniting the government, employers, and labor unions.
Secretary of the ERD Md Shahriar Kader Siddiky and Country Director ILO Tuomo Poutiainen signed the agreement. Representatives from EU, concerned Embassies, Officials of UN Wing of ERD and concerned Government agencies were present in the signing ceremony.
