A Financial Literacy and Entrepreneur Development Training program designed especially for female entrepreneurs has been introduced by Eastern Bank Limited (EBL), a well-known private sector bank in Bangladesh. Women entrepreneurs and other ecosystem partners attended the ceremony at the bank’s corporate office in Gulshan to introduce the project.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Bangladesh Bank created the online training program with the goal of empowering female entrepreneurs by equipping them with essential knowledge and skills. The goal of this self-paced program is to help women from small businesses increase their business success by providing them with certification, exams, and practical knowledge.
As the principal guest at the event, Md. Mazibur Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank and Project Director of SPCSSECP, said, “Through interactive courses, participants will gain vital skills in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and business management.”
“In addition to letting female entrepreneurs learn at their own speed, this online course will improve their ability to make wise business decisions,” said Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director and CEO of EBL, underscoring the program’s adaptability.
Rahman and Iftekhar were joined at the ceremony by a number of senior EBL officials, including Tanzeri Hoque, Head of Priority and Women Banking; Syed Zulkar Nayen, Head of Business; and M. Khorshed Anowar, DMD and Head of Retail and SME Banking. Team Leader Ali Sabet, Ferdous Ahmed, SPCSSECP Specialist Ruman Ishtiak Rafeen, and ADB Senior Gender and Project Implementation Consultant Sinora Chakma were also in attendance.
