The recently formed committee on reforms in the power loom and textile sector at Ichalkaranji, a textile-town in Kolhapur district, under the chairmanship of Suresh Halwankar sees privatization as an option to revive the sick textile mills, where private players will be given 51 per cent share of the mill to restore them. Halwankar has been given 100 days by the Government to submit a report for the evaluation of the State Government’s textile policy formed in 2012 and also been asked put forward suggestions for the survival and growth of the textile industry.
