The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) recently developed a technology to make a washable, flexible and highly-sensitive textile-type sensor to gas in the air. By this technology, graphene can be coated to textiles like nylon, cotton or polyester using molecular adhesives so that the textile can check whether gas exists in the air or not. The sensor does not need any additional power to operate and maintains its function even after being washed or bent for 1,000 times. By wearing work clothes with these gas sensors, it will be possible for firefighters to check the condition of air when putting out fire or entering a small area in which the condition of the air cannot be identified.
