After hearing a petition filed under the Companies Act, 1994, the bench of Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar of the High Court, has recently sought all records and documents related to the e-commerce platform Evaly Limited, which has been in the news of late due to alleged anomalies and malpractices, even as the court asked the Registrar of Joint Stock of Companies and Firms to come up with all records and documents in this regard.
Media reports maintained this while adding earlier the High Court on 22 September directed concerned authorities not to sell, transfer or dispose of the assets of Evaly until the disposal of the case filed with it even as it asked e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, Registrar of Joint Stock of Companies and Firms, Evaly, Consumer Rights Protection Bureau, Nagad, bKash, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Bangladesh Competition Commission, Bangladesh Bank and the Commerce Secretary to comply with the order.
It may be mentioned here that a customer named Md. Farhad Hossen had filed the petition seeking directives to wind up the disputed e-commerce platform (Evaly) while also distribute its net asset cash fund amongst creditors even as he sought a court order to direct the respondents to restrain or prohibit Evaly from transferring, selling or disposing its assets.
