
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, the Government has proposed a 1 per cent import tariff on all types of capital machinery for industries located in high-tech parks and economic zones.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali stated in the proposed budget for FY ’25, which was presented to the parliament on June 6, that used building materials imported by developers for the creation of economic zones will be subject to a 1 per cent charge.
The Minister added that products utilised in high-tech park development projects would be subject to a proposed 5 per cent import duty.
For industrial enterprises investing under the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), there are now no import duties on any kinds of capital machinery.
