A joint venture between China and Singapore, Chic Wings (BD) Lingerie Co Ltd, plans to invest US$18 million to build a clothing manufacturing facility in Bangladesh’s Bepza Economic Zone (Bepza EZ).
Briefs, undergarments, slips, boxers, shorts, camisoles, bras, and vests are among the astonishing 30 million pieces that the newly designed facility is expected to create each year. It is anticipated that this investment will give local Bangladeshi citizens access to about 3,000 new work possibilities.
Md. Ashraful Kabir, Bepza’s member for investment promotion, and Lijuan Chen, managing director of Chic Wings (BD), signed a formal agreement at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka.
Bepza’s executive chairman, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, thanked Chic Wings (BD) for their dedication to making investments in Bangladesh, especially in the Bepza EZ. Rahman promised the business full support to guarantee smooth operations.
The biggest project under Bepza, Bepza EZ, is strategically located in Mirsharai, Chattogram. Chic Wings (BD) is one of 36 businesses that have signed contracts to establish factories in the area thus far, with a total estimated investment of US $868.5 million. Interestingly, three businesses have already started doing business in this rapidly growing centre of the economy.
