Leading international sewing technology company HIKARI formally introduced its new generation of intelligent sewing machines in Bangladesh with the goal of increasing production and efficiency in the country’s readymade garment (RMG) sector. A major step forward in the nation’s transition to smart manufacturing was reached with the launch event, which was co-organised by Tech Cell BD Ltd., and attended by prominent members of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), business executives and HIKARI’s global management team.
Wang Sheng, HIKARI’s International Sales Director, stated, “Automation and intelligent sewing systems have been widely adopted across global supply chains” and further added that their technology has helped boost production quality, efficiency and sustainability. Wang said that they are proud to have received the highest partnership certification from Adidas which is proof of their consistent performance and trust earned from global customers.
As per Wang, HIKARI’s progress has become possible due to collective trust, collaboration and feedback from its customers globally.
HIKARI’s sole commercial partner in Bangladesh, Tech Cell BD Ltd., Managing Director Bappy K. Roy, expressed delight in organising the inaugural event and fostering closer ties between Bangladeshi producers and international technology pioneers.
Bappy emphasised on the commitment of Tech Cell BD and HIKARI to deliver not only machines but also comprehensive technical service, after-sales support and localised innovation. He even stated that they are closely working with factories to understand their needs, challenges and workflow. Their target is to help them achieve higher output, better quality and lower operational costs through automation and precision technology.
In order to provide affordable, high-quality machinery and prompt service support, Md. Sohel, Director, BGMEA, spoke on behalf of the Bangladeshi garment industry and asked HIKARI to think about making more investments in the nation, including setting up local manufacturing and assembly facilities.
“Over 5,000 garment factories are currently operating in Bangladesh and they all rely significantly on sewing machines,” Sohel said. “HIKARI should invest in local manufacturing here, in my opinion. This will increase the affordability and accessibility of service and replacement parts. He also underlined how crucial cost is to technological advancement.
“Please keep up your research and development, but keep your innovations affordable. You can take over the whole Bangladeshi market if you can provide cutting-edge AI-based sewing solutions at a reasonable cost. In addition to being intelligent, we want technologies that small and medium-sized factories can use,” he continued.
