Subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, Reliance Retail, recently announced it was about to launch a new format called Swadesh, an artisan-only dedicated store format, to sell products sourced from the artisans from across India.
Meanwhile, Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Isha Ambani, reportedly, claimed Swadesh will showcase everything from home textiles to garments to home decor, wellness products, apparel, furniture, jewellery and more, even as she maintained, “The future of Indian arts and crafts is poised at an exciting stage…”
The first store of Swadesh — Swadesh will also build a global marketplace to connect Indian artisans and sellers of authentic handmade products — is expected to open in the second half of 2022.
To help popularise local art forms, both nationally and globally, Reliance Retail will also, reportedly, partner with various Government organisations.
