There’s no denying that the COVID-19 pandemic has been rather devastating not only for Bangladesh’s apparel manufacturing industry but the retail sector as well, especially fashion retailers as they had to withstand significant losses on account of lockdown and subdued sales.
However, as per media reports, now with vaccine for the dreaded coronavirus pandemic having already rolled out in the country, local apparel brands and retailers are expecting the sales to revive during the upcoming festivals (starting from Pahela Falgun to Pahela Baishakh till the Eid).
It is expected that people will start coming out from their homes, reportedly, underlined Khalid Mahmood Khan, entrepreneur and founder of the leading local clothing brand Kay Kraft even as Biplob Saha, Managing Director another leading local clothing brand, Bishworang, on his part, reportedly, observed that business has been reviving gradually but it was yet to fully return to normalcy.
Business had been very dull over the last eight to nine months, stated Khalid Mahmood Khan, adding but it was reviving with the arrival of vaccines as people have started coming out from their long homestays even as the MD of Bishworang, reportedly, said that the lack of business during major festivals had hit hard the local brands last year.
