Serving the country for the past two decades, Ramsons stands on a pedestal higher from any other washing and finishing solution provider in the country. “Bangladesh is at a point where the Indian garment industry was 15 years ago and we have seen tremendous improvement since the time we entered the market. Not only has the industry matured, but due to the resilient nature of the people their growth is not hindered by the infrastructural bottlenecks that the country faces today,” says Sunder Belani, Managing Director, Ramsons.
Ramsons is focusing on its garment dyeing and washing systems for the Bangladesh market, with its diverse portfolio of 100+ dyeing, washing and finishing solutions. “Initially when people used to talk about washing, the only topic of discussion was ‘Desizing’, but now the industry is aware of various aspects of washing. Sunder also firmly believes that the industry is not just looking for improving the quality and production by installing automated machines, but they want to bank on the benefits from lower skill requirement for operating the machine, and overall labour reduction.
The company opened its offices both in Dhaka and Chittagong around 6 years back, and since then has seen upward growth. “I have in total 27 competitors, mostly from Turkey, and only a handful have survived in the country because of the required quality of after-sales service and technical support,” he averred. Due to the company’s joint-venture with European technology providers, the solutions offered are far better than that of its competitors.
Talking about the market share in the country, Sunder Belani added, “We have acquired the top 200 manufacturers in the country as our clients and are now penetrating deeper into the industry by targeting 100-150 companies at the medium and lower level.” Sunder is looking at 20% growth in 2013 and would be investing heavily on training its staff and engineers for providing more robust support and service to the industry.
