
First embroidery became the craze in Surat with almost every unit investing in an embroidery machine. Today the focus is shifting to digital printing. Encouraged by the trend, Hemmy Digital Printing, Surat is going for expansion by adding two new digital printing machines and is also looking to setup a new manufacturing plant for the same. Prashant Hareshbhai Dadawala of the company told Apparel Online, “Our specialization is digital printing and we are getting good response in it from the Surat industry, as well as from our international buyers, so we plan to expand and install more digital printing machines, which will be operational in the next few months. This expansion will enhance our exports also, as of now we are exporting only 20 per cent of our production, but our target is to export at least 50 per cent of our products to the international markets.”
Exporting to USA, Middle East countries, Hareshbhai is enthusiastic about his new plant setup for manufacturing digital printing machines with collaboration of a German company but did not disclose more. “We are confident that good demand for digital printing is coming in the next few months especially in Surat. With a total investment of Rs. 22-25 crore, we will start our plant any time after March 2012.” The company has purchase land of 39,000 sq. feet in Kadora.
