The 19th edition of Garmentech, 11th GAP Expo, 11th International Yarn & Fabrics Sourcing Fair and PackTech Bangladesh (packaging show) recently concluded on a very high note. Spread over 9 halls, the events witnessed 450 exhibitors from across the country and noticed good visitation.
The events, inaugurated by Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the presence of Dr. Rubana Huq, President BGMEA, included the entire range of technology covering all segments of garment manufacturing as well as trims. Many top industry players were seen exhibiting the best of their offerings.
Despite all the existing and upcoming challenges, Bangladesh’s RMG players are geared up to expand further. And their enthusiasm was clearly visible in these shows. Right from owners to merchandisers and buying houses’ representatives, everyone was looking for automation and other cost related measures. Many garment exporters who visited the shows told Apparel Resources that price pressure is very much there, so they are trying to improve where ever they can. Besides emphasising on automation to achieve this, they stated that they are also focusing on reducing the number of helpers.
The events also witnessed visitors from Chittagong who were equally passionate to see the latest technology. Apart from top level management, many mid-level professionals and even merchandising teams visited these concurrent fairs.
As far as technology is concerned, the most talked about exhibitor this time has been IMB, a Chinese jeans/trouser/shirts automats’ provider. IMB is aggressively trying to promote its machines in the market while a lot of other sewing tech providers are keeping an eye on IMB and its strategies. Jack Group has come up with its Jack Sewing machines and MAICA shirt automats.
Many Indian fabric and trims companies are doing well in Bangladesh, and every year, some more Indian companies are found exploring this booming market. This time too, companies like Vishal Print-N-Plast, Mumbai and Olympic Zippers Limited, Meerut participated for the first time in the shows.
This edition of Garmentech was special for its organiser, ASK Trade & Exhibitions, as the company celebrated the landmark of completing 100 exhibitions. On this occasion, the company also announced the forthcoming 4th edition of Garmentech, Chattogram (Chittagong) to be held from 20-22 August, 2020.
