The rawhide market in Bangladesh, which had to suffer for long on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, made recovery this Eid-ul-Azha on the back of higher demand and better prices of rawhides.
Media reports claimed this while adding the Government’s bar on the arrival of rawhides in Dhaka in the week after Eid to prevent over-supply in the capital’s market, also helped the cause.
“Hopefully the business will be better this year than last year,” meanwhile maintained the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) Md Shakawat Ullah who assured the tanners would buy rawhides at the price fixed by the Government.
Tanners are said to have received around Taka 170 crore from four state-run banks to clear dues that paved the way for fresh purchases, further added BTA President Shahin Ahmed.
