The production of personal protection equipment (PPE) in Bangladesh is getting popular amidst growing demand for PPE in the global market on account of the coronavirus pandemic.
The latest to get into PPE production is the country’s renowned business conglomerate PRAN-RFL Group, which through its sister concern, Banga Plastic International Limited, has decided to set up PPE and toy manufacturing factory at the Adamjee Export Processing Zone.
The authorities of Banga Plastic International Limited signed an agreement in this direction recently with the officials of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) at the BEPZA Complex in capital Dhaka.
To be set up at an investment of US $ 18.08 million, the unit will produce around 850 metric tonnes of PPE (surgical face masks, medical gowns, KN 95 face masks, N 95 face masks, hand sanitisers, surgical hand gloves, shoe covers, mop caps, etc.), as per media reports.
The new unit of Banga Plastic International Limited is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 1,900 Bangladeshi nationals.
It may be mentioned here that established in 1981 by retired Major General Amjad Khan Chowdhury, Programme for Rural Advancement Nationally or PRAN is one of the largest foods and beverage brands in Bangladesh.
