
The Apparel Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMH SSC) and Amity University have signed a MoU to train workforce for garment industry. It was signed by Dr. Roopak Vasishtha, CEO, AMH SSC and Dr. Padmakali Banerjee, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Amity University. The MoU shall pave way for skilling of thousands of youth of the country in the different trades of apparel industry. Amity will focus on short-term courses related to fashion designing, merchandising and Sewing Machine Operator (SMO). For SMO, youth of rural areas will be motivated. In fashion and apparel industry, it is a new kind of beginning for Amity. The university is not too much into grassroot-level courses.
Dr. Roopak informed that the course curriculum of these courses will be aligned to National Occupation Standards and AMH SSC will support as assessment of the trainees.
