Indonesia’s biggest producer of textile raw materials Indo Rama Synthetics, controlled by Indian-born businessman Prakash Lohia, opened its 9th textile plant, a $40 million spinning mill facility in Purwakarta, West Java.
The plant has a capacity to produce 10,800 metric tonnes of textile raw material per annum. It is built on a 50-hectare plot that has been owned by Indo Rama since 1997.
According to BKPM Chairman Franky Sibarani, “Indo Rama’s expansion can support the government’s plan to reduce unemployment and improve the locals’ income in Purwakarta district, while also improving foreign exchange earnings from exports.”
New investment in the textile and textile products industry stood at Rp 8.3 trillion last year, 35.7 percent higher compared to a year earlier.
Indo Rama Synthetics (India) Ltd, a leading manufacturer and supplier of polyester, is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. The company has several technical collaborations with various technology leaders in Japan, Germany and the US. The Indo Rama Group has a strong presence in Indonesia, Thailand, US, Nepal and Sri Lanka, besides India.
