Industries in Bangladesh that are under the Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) will have to submit their export permit related documents directly through Automated System for Customs Data ASYCUDA soon so as to obtain the customs clearance.
As per reports, the Bangladesh Customs’ automation department has issued a directive in this regard recently making it mandatory to submit the documents through ASYCUDA from Monday next even as the Government on 14 November, 2022 made submission of import related documents through ASYCUDA mandatory.
Earlier, import and export related documents verification process was settled only through BEPZA’s online system even as according to the recent directive, inter-connectivity between ASYCUDA World and BEPZA’s system has already been established and the inter-connecting interface allows simple transmission of information of BEPZA’s import licences between BEPZA’s system and the ASYCUDA World.
Meanwhile, officials of the National Bureau of Revenue (NBR) has reportedly underlined, the new system will reduce offences like import of restricted or banned products, abuse of bonded-warehouse facility, money laundering, smuggling, duty evasion, etc.
