The largest textile and garment machinery expo in South Asia, the 17th Dhaka International Textile and Garment (DTG) 2023 started at International Convention City, Bashundhara, on 15 February (Wednesday).
The four-day exhibition is attended by 1200 companies from 35 different countries from across the globe even as exhibitors have reportedly expressed hopes of capturing nearly US US $ 4 billion textile and apparel machinery market in the country (Bangladesh), which is experiencing a 20 per cent year-over-year sales growth.
Media reports underlined this claiming the machinery market has identified Bangladesh as having enormous business potential since the industry here is on an expanding spree on the back of shifting of work orders to Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Sales Area Manager of Santoni — Santoni is an Italian manufacturer of textile machines — Gianpiero Valsecchi reportedly stated business grew roughly 40 per cent year on year in Bangladesh in the last two years despite the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
