The Chittagong City Corporation or CCC had to remove around 15,000 pieces of unsold rawhides of sacrificial animals from streets across the city and dump those into garbage depot as price of rawhides all across the country has taken a massive hit.
Councillor of CCC, Shaibal Das Sumon reportedly confirmed the same to the media.
As per media reports, the seasonal rawhide traders, reportedly, collected skins of animals after being sacrificed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha from across the Chittagong at around Taka 200-300/hide, but when they failed to sell the same at prices higher than that, left the rawhides on the streets of the city.
Subsequently, the CCC had to pick up the same from the city streets and dump into the garbage depot.
We have dumped over 15,000 rawhides into garbage depot till Sunday night, reportedly stated Shaibal Das, who is also the president of Waste Management Committee of CCC, speaking to the media.
