Bangladesh Government has extended business hours of all malls, retail outlets and shops and allowed them to operate till 8:00 PM, as per media reports.
It may be mentioned here that earlier (from 1 July to 3 August) malls and shops were allowed to remain open till 7:00 PM from 10:00 AM in the morning, prior to which, they were allowed to remain open till 4:00 PM only in view of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
The Cabinet Division reportedly issued an order in this direction recently, which has also maintained that social distancing and health protocols have to be maintained in all malls and shops and shoppers provided with sanitiser/hand washing facility at the entrance of shops/malls.
The order further added people should be encouraged to use e-commerce sites for shopping while mandating all shops and malls need to also provide thermometers.
