Close on heels of recent reported fuel price hike in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has called upon the Government to re-think the decision of fuel price hike even as the garment makers’ body maintained that the latest diesel price hike would raise the production cost by 5 per cent.
The President of the garment makers’ body Faruque Hassan, reportedly, maintained this while interacting with the media recently.
The BGMEA chair, reportedly, further added that following the 23 per cent increase in diesel price, transportation cost and cost incurred towards electricity production through generator will also go up while the price of raw materials has already gone up.
Faruque Hassan also, reportedly, underlined that the ease of doing business and stable policy were required to generate employment and attract investment even as he added that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in last two years, fresh employment has hardly been created in the industry.
