
Eid-ul-Azha is on 1 August, and to ensure that workers employed in the industrial units, especially the garment factories spread out across the industrial hubs of the country, do not face any issues pertaining to receiving wages and bonus ahead of the holy festival, branches of all scheduled banks would remain open this Friday, 31 July.
Bangladesh’s central bank, the Bangladesh Bank, has asked branches of all scheduled banks located in the industrial hubs of Chittagong, Dhaka, Narayanganj, Ashulia, Gazipur, Bhaluka, Tongi and Savar to remain open from 10 am to 1 pm on 31 July to ensure smooth disbursal of workers’ wages and bonus.
Meanwhile, it has also been decided that Bangladesh Bank’s clearing department would operate next Friday 10 am to 12 pm.
