
Close on heels of news that maintained the most-awaited operation of the Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) was yet to start as no operator has been selected as yet despite construction being completed almost a month now, it has now emerged Bangladesh has started negotiation to this end with a Saudi Arabian firm, wherein an international agency is playing the go-between the two.
Media reports claimed this citing the concerned officials even as they maintained, there are some contradictions in the statements of the Bangladesh side and the Saudi RSGT, on the awarding of the contract.
If negotiations are successful, the deal will be signed with the RSGT, meanwhile, reportedly, claimed Shipping Secretary Mostafa Kamal speaking to the media even if reports further added the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has appointed the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group as transaction adviser to conduct negotiation with the RSGT.
