
In order to help the country deal with the post pandemic challenges, Bangladesh has sought preferential trade facilities from Canada till 2030.
Media reports maintained this while adding the call was made by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen during his recent virtual meeting with Karina Gould, who is the Minister of International Development of Canada.
During the meeting, both Dr. AK Abdul Momen and Karina Gould also, reportedly, expressed optimism pertaining to the co-chairmanship of Bangladesh and Canada in the preparatory process of the upcoming 5th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC-5).
The 5th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries is scheduled to be held in Doha, in January next year.
Further, congratulating Bangladesh on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Karina Gould reiterated that Canada remains committed to work with Bangladesh, including on LDC issues even as she expressed optimism of being able to visit Bangladesh in the near future.
