As per the 2023 Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index, Bangladesh has climbed up four notches to rank 35th among the 50 most promising emerging logistics markets globally.
This is primarily due to Bangladesh’s good performance in both domestic and international logistics opportunities even if the country has scored the lowest, yet again, among the four emerging South Asian economies as per the 14th annual edition of the Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index, unveiled recently.
The Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index ranked the world’s 50 leading emerging markets for overall competitiveness based on four metrics: business fundamentals, domestic logistics opportunities, international logistics opportunities and digital readiness.
These are the factors that make them attractive to freight forwarders, logistics providers, distributors, investors, air and ocean carriers.
Among other South Asian countries, Sri Lanka held the 30th ranking in the index, Pakistan stood at 26th position even as India is at number two in the overall ranking, having made significant progress in the last decade in modernising the logistics and supply chain industry, underlined the report.
